How can it be Wednesday already? We visited the War Remnants Museum today. It’s historically fascinating but emotionally draining. The exhibition of photographs by the official war photographers, some of whom were killed or went missing in action, covered all aspects of the war in stark reality.
I needed a tonic to lighten the mood so we headed to an old favourite place, Saigon Saigon, for a roof top cocktail … bliss!
Tonight we ate at Propaganda in the Vietnamese part …. So much food… I love the fresh summer rolls ( prefer them to the fried spring rolls) and the dipping sauce was just perfect. I had an edamame bean, black rice and vegetable salad with citrus marinaded tofu topped with pumpkin seeds.. a great mix of flavours and textures. Paul had crunchy tricoloured rice which tasted sooo good though quite rich. Eating non glutinous rice with chopsticks is a challenge but I’m getting quite proficient at the hold the bowl close and scoop method! I had a coconut, passion fruit and honey smoothie too.
I actually think that food is my main hobby: I’ve realised that I love thinking about it, looking at it, talking about it, reading about it, writing about it, growing it, cooking it, eating it and, of course, sharing it.
It’s such a lovely evening we wandered through the parks on our way home. Now sitting on the terrace in a summer dress, with a lovely breeze blowing through the apartment and the Saigon moon blessing us with her presence.
