A trip up North to visit the botanical gardens, a temple and another waterfall. Gede, our faithful driver, picked us up at 8.30
First stop, Bali Botanical Gardens. A fabulous collection of plants and trees from across the tropics. Being a Saturday there were many visitors having picnics and doing wedding photos. But because the gardens were so large it was easy to get away from people.

After the botanical gardens it was a short drive to the lakeside temple. Ulun Danu Beratan Temple was built in 1635 and although it is a popular tourist attraction it is still a temple used by Balinese Hindus for prayer.
From the temple Gede drove us up through the mountains to find the twin waterfalls at Gitgit. A bit of a hike to the falls but well worth the trip.
After the falls and on our way back down the mountains we went through the heaviest tropical rain storm. The roads were flooding with water gushing down the mountain.
