As you can see in the photos one put his hand on me then his foot and then started grooming me! It was funny but slightly alarming when he wouldn’t leave! Managed to shake him off eventually without causing too much offence. The baby monkeys were like tiny old men …their fine motor skills were very impressive as they picked up crumbs to eat. Their acrobatics were hilarious and the loving nonchalance of their antics by the adults was interesting to watch.
We were ineptly trying to take a selfie when along came a girl who offered to take our picture .. I agreed quickly as Paul was trying to walk off. She took many pictures and then commanded Paul, “ Kiss her!“ He did. She snapped it and I told her she expects a lot of a couple 40 years married… made her laugh.
As we were leaving, discussing how well organised the place was I was aware of big old monkey coming at me full pelt! Next thing he was trying to take my bag …a tremendous tug of war and much snarling by both parties ensued until the fracas was broken up by a park warden wielding a catapult. Thankfully the monkey got the sharp end of that! I was quite glad to leave at that point. Still …worth the visit.
It was quite a walk to the sanctuary from Kubu Darma about 3km in 32degree heat. We stopped en route for a little sustenance and had pizza and chips with salad. The carbs were a welcome change. The pizza was not up to Pizza Pig standards needless to say.
We visited many jewellery shops in town and eventually found a silver bracelet to my liking which Paul bought for my birthday.
