Today is my birthday. I’ve been on this planet for 60 years …lucky me ….it’s  quite unbelievable how the days go by and the weeks, months and years… 

It’s been a splendid day with breakfast in bed then a trip to a beautiful spa. The massage was amazing …I got distracted as she pulled my toes … I have very short toes and I started thinking is she trying to stretch them …does she think I’m a Pobble  ( who has no toes Edward Lear) ? Then she was determined that my heel should be able to sit on my bottom …that was a bit of a stretch for these tight tendons …after that it was all quite relaxing! I had my first ever facial… bliss … and my first ever coffee exfoliating scrub! 

After the spa we went in search of cake because a birthday isn’t a birthday without cake. Found the loveliest of coffee shops with an upstairs terrace where you could sit and watch the world go by.

Spent the afternoon catching up with family and then to a beautiful restaurant called alchemy for dinner … the food was sooo good and there was so much we had to bring our pudding home for later. A bit more correspondence in the evening. 

It was lovely to see a bit of Ubud town as we walked through …there are markets,  tourist/ gift  shops,  designer shops, book shops and so many restaurants serving food from all across the globe. It’s got a good vibe although, like most cities if has a lot of poverty with people begging and homeless. All along the main roads there are taxis being offered and street sellers but it’s all good natured. There are many temples but most of the are only open for prayer not to visitors.
